Colin Koh – Everyone’s special friend

I never liked to take photos.
You seldom find me requesting to take photos with people.
During this day, on Colin’s 60th Birthday; I requested to take a photo with him. This may be the only photo we have together as friends.

It’s been close to a year since you left.
The sights of that day still feels so fresh
That look of serenity on your face
The touch of your hand
That final word of Thank You
And it’s goodbye, I’ll see you at the other side

Colin is more than a friend. He’s like a father because he cares and loves so deeply.

There were so many people at his funeral wake. Strangers sat together and shared wonderful stories about Colin – his passion, his loud personality, his larger than life persona, his advocacy, his beliefs, his loves, his big bearish hugs… and so much more.
No one was awkward or felt left out cause there’s so much to be said about Colin and everyone were impacted by him in one way or another, during one point of our lives.
We were griefing together.
Sharing and crying… and bursting into laughter cause Colin is absolutely hilarious in his own ways. So many stories were shared and deeply etched in our hearts.
He’s loud. He’s huge. He’s long winded. He’s stubborn. He can’t read the room very well sometimes.

BUT

He loves, he cares
He goes the extra mile
He bothers
He’s generous
He makes you feel special
He tells you… you matter
Nothing is too insignificant in your life that he will turn a blind eye to.

Everyone had so much great things to say about him. The list never stops.

You left too soon, too fast.
You won’t know how much a person means to you, till they are gone.
This was definitely one of the toughest funerals to coordinate.
He left too deep a footprint in my heart.
See you soon Buddy.
Miss your hugs.
